FEATURED BUILDS

A look at some of the builds, partnerships, and projects Alumicraft has been part of — from custom one-off machining to grille inserts on cars featured at some of the biggest shows in the country.

Throtl & WD-40 — 2005 Ford GT Grille

We had the chance to work with Throtl — the YouTube channel with 3+ million subscribers and nearly a million on Instagram — on their carbon-fiber wide-body 2005 Ford GT build for SEMA, done in partnership with WD-40.

The factory grille on the Ford GT is plastic, and the mounting bosses that hold it in place tend to warp and break off over time — a rattling grille that eventually cracks and fails. Since Ford no longer makes replacement grilles for the GT, Throtl sent us the original factory piece, and we reverse-engineered it in-house, keeping the factory mounting points intact — drilled and tapped for the correct 8-32 Allen screws — so it bolts right back on with no modification needed.

We keep the CAD files on record for every reverse-engineered part like this one — so if you’re driving a Ford GT with a cracked or missing factory grille, we can build you a replacement too.

Throtl posted several videos following the build on their YouTube channel.

Paintucation — Second-Gen Camaro RS Build

Kevin Tetz — hot rod builder, YouTuber, and host of Paintucation — installed one of our Rally Sport grilles on his second-gen Camaro build, and the reaction on camera says it all.

Kevin and Dan go way back — they first crossed paths through Tim Strange’s Search & Restore show, and reconnected at the Triple Crown of Rodding show in Nashville. At his booth there, Dan had a full wall of second-gen Camaro grilles on display — Rally Sport and standard-nose versions, along with aluminum marker lights — and Kevin picked the RS grille for his build on the spot.

Kevin called the honeycomb pattern a deliberate nod to a later-model Camaro grille, and praised how cleanly it integrated with the car’s chrome trim and hood release. He wrapped up the segment thanking Dan directly for the craftsmanship and pointing his audience to Alumicraft for anyone building a second-gen Camaro or Firebird.

Have a build you’d like us to be part of?

Whether it’s a factory grille that’s cracked, warped, or long out of production, or a custom design for something the aftermarket doesn’t make anymore, we’d love to help.
