The ’33 and ‘34 Ford grilles are different and require the same year matching hood.
The original ’33 Ford insert had a sweep only at the bottom. The ’34 Ford grille had an outward roll at the top of the grille bar and then went strait to the bottom of the grille opening.
As options, I can do an inward roll at the top of the ’33 insert and still do the bottom outward sweep. I can also build a ’33 Ford style bar bend in a ’34 Ford grille shell opening. The top inward roll adds $150 to any of the prices below. The stock style outward bend is available for the ’34 Ford shell only.
The 3/8” spacing between the grille bars is a more original look. The 1/4” spacing is more of an updated hot rod look. With the tighter 1/4” spacing, it hides the radiator/fan/condenser from view, while only reducing air flow by 7%.
If you already have a grille shell, we need to know who made it. We have 12 different 1933 Ford grille shells and 3 different 1934 Ford grille shells at our shop from various manufacturers and they vary as much as 5/8 of an inch. If you do not know who made your grille shell, you can send it to us to have your insert built in it. Normally, there is a 10% fee to do this, but rarely more than $100. The insert will still be removable for paint when you get it back from us. We prefer to have the grille shell in either gelcoat or primer. We prefer not to have finished painted grille shells to work with and can't be held responsible for any damage while it's in our possession.
